Ant Wilson started playing guitar, singing and writing songs at university in Durham. He played and recorded with a number of bands in north eastern England including the Redheughers Ceilidh Band, Bodhran Bodhran (acoustic folk and roots) and the Jack O’Ryan Band.. Moving to Spain Ant joined the Sessionistas band, performing mainly Manx and Irish music at venues along the Costa Del Sol. He is also a member of the Irish Music in Andalucia collective who run regular music sessions around the region.
Ant grew up on the banks of the river Tyne, then still alive with ship building and trade. His regional identity was celebrated in songs of the working people and his influences are rooted in popular culture predominantly Folk, Irish and Country.
Ant likes to tell stories that make us feel good about life, even if the story is a sad one. His songs are tuneful, melodic, bringing to life characters and situations we can all identify with. Now spending more time back in England Ant is writing new songs which he hopes other artists will want to sing and record.
