Mary Welch Francis thinks of Nashville as “hometown”. She began her songwriting career at Combine Music where she wrote for eleven years and from 1998 to 2000, she was a staff writer at BMG Music Publishing, Inc. She has her own publishing companies: Bluwaboo Publishing through ASCAP and Brand New Heart Publishing through BMI. She is a former member of NARAS and Pro Member of the Nashville Songwriters Association International.
Mary has two ASCAP awards, the first in 1988 for “Whiskey, If You Were a Woman,” featuring on the TV series Northern Exposure and “Tonight The Heartache’s On Me” which went to the top of the charts in 1999. recorded by the Dixie Chicks and has to date certified sales of 13 million! Mary has also had songs recorded by Reba McEntire and Dixiana, Joy Lynn White, Johnny Rodriguez, and many independent artists.
